New Delhi, March 7: Airtel slashes mobile ISD tariffs by up to 50 per cent. For mobile subscribers ISD rates to US, Canada and Europe slashed to Rs 7.20 per minute. ISD rates to Africa and gulf countries slashed to Rs 9.99 per minute.
STD rates slashed marginally for subscribers paying more than Rs 2.40 per minute. Airtel attributes tariff cut to new ADC regime.
Earlier, Airtel joined the 'India One' bandwagon by announcing a new tariff plans for pre paid and post paid customers that would enable them to make long distance calls at Re one per minute.
"For post paid customers the company launched India Roam and India Home plans with rental of Rs 599 and Rs 299. In both the plans all the STD calls would be priced at Re one per minute," the company said in a release.
Local calls to another Airtel customers would cost Re one for two minutes while for calls to subscribers of other companies Re one will be charged. For local and national SMS the rates would again be Re one.
Subscribers opting for India Roam will be charged Re one for all the incoming and outgoing calls and SMS while roaming while for subscribers of India Home normal roaming rates will apply.
The international calls under both plans will cost Rs 7.20 and Rs 9.99.
For its pre paid customers, Airtel has introduced a special Rs 899 Recharge plan with a validity of one month in which all local calls, STD calls and all SMS will be charged at Re 1. The card will offer talk value of Rs 550. In this plan too the international calls would be charged at Rs 7.20 and Rs 9.99.
