Six CBI aspirants held for cheating in exam


New Delhi, Oct 2 (IANS): Six candidates who appeared a Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exam held Sep 29 all across the country for recruitment in the CBI, income tax and excise departments were arrested for cheating, Delhi Police said Tuesday.

Hemant Maan, 24, Sunil Kumar, 25, Arvind Kumar, 24, Virender Singh, 24, Yogender, 31, and Shailender Pratap, 25, were arrested from four different examination centres in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The combined graduate level (tier-II) SSC examination was conducted for the recruitment of Income Tax inspectors, excise inspectors and sub-inspectors in the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Most of the accused are from Delhi and adjacent areas of the National Capital Region in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

"All the arrested candidates have been taken on 10 days police remand for conducting further investigation," said Ravindra Yadav, additional commissioner of police (crime branch).

"We had received inputs that the papers of SSC which is to be held all over India in two shifts on Sep 29 are likely to be leaked out," said Yadav.
