Jaipur, Sep 25 (IANS): A former Rajasthan minister Wednesday ignored a police summon and failed to appear for a medical examination in connection with a rape case registered against him on the complaint of a married woman, police said.
The 35-year-old woman accused former minister of state for dairy and rural industries Babu Lal Nagar of raping her at his government bungalow in the city Sep 11, police said.
"Nagar did not appear before the investigation team today (Wednesday)," said a police officer.
"We had got semen samples from the woman's clothes. We need Nagar's blood for a DNA test," he said.
The officer said their team handed over a notice Monday to Nagar's family members and informed them about the medical test Sep 25.
"His family members told us that Nagar had gone on a pilgrimage to Shirdi in Maharashtra," he said.
Nagar resigned Sep 20 following the rape allegations.
A police officer told IANS that Nagar had been avoiding a medical examination since the past one week during which two notices were served on him.
The Congress-led state government has recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the matter.
