Pakistan will continue to fight terror, Sharif tells China

United Nations, Sep 25 (IANS): Pakistan would continue to fight terrorism, despite the enormous sacrifice it has made, to safeguard regional security, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has assured China here.

Sharif conveyed this to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi when they met here Tuesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session, Xinhua reported.

Lauding Pakistan's efforts in cracking down on the terrorist group "East Turkistan Islamic Movement", Wang said that China would support Pakistan in boosting its ability to combat terrorism.

The Chinese foreign minister also offered condolences to families of those killed and injured in a powerful earthquake that jolted Pakistan's southwest province of Balochistan as well as the bombings at a church in Pakistan's northwest city of Peshawar.

Sharif told Wang that Pakistan was willing to work with China to facilitate the construction of the proposed Pakistan-China economic corridor so as to bring more tangible benefits to both countries.
