Bangalore, Sep 21: A techie allegedly stabbed his wife to death over a property dispute and then committed suicide by jumping off the 13th floor of the building they were staying in. The incident occurred on Friday September 20 night in J P Nagar.
Roopa (33), was allegedly murdered by her husband Madhusudan (36). Both were working for a software firm, it is learnt.
Married 6 years ago, the couple lived at Shobha Apartments along with their 5-yr-old daughter Surabhi. Police said that the couple had left their child in her grandmother's house in the same locality. A quarrel had erupted between them, which led to the murder and subsequent suicide.
The security guard of the flat had seen the couple entering the apartment and everything seemed normal. However, a quarrel erupted between them at around 9.45 pm, resulting in Madhusudan stabbing his wife to death in a fit of rage. When he realized what he had done, he panicked and tried to end his life trying to hang himself, but the rope cut and his suicide bid failed.
He then poured kerosene and tried to set himself ablaze, but again failed as he was unable to find a match stick. Finally, he jumped off from the 13th floor of the building and died.
The incident came to light when the security guard heard a crashing sound and rushed to the spot.
J P Nagar police were informed and south division DCP H S Revanna and other higher officials visited the spot and carried out investigations.
