Dubai, February 24, 2006 : Rains did not hinder in any way the spirit of Goans in participating in the carnival celebrations held at the Lodge in Dubai, on the evening of 23rd February. The Carnival was initially planned at the Pool side of Al Nasr Leisureland, but got changed at the last moment due to the heavy pours Dubai had witnessed all throughout the day.
Kids, couples danced to the pulsating music of the band "True Color" and the Master of Ceremony Geoffrey kept the audience at their toes infusing in them enthusiasm all throughout the night and reminding them of their Goan heritage.
There were dances -Indian, folk, western; quizzes for adults and the kids; parades; games, raffles, skits, bingo and variety of competitions and the audience took home galore of prizes along with them.
Christopher DeSouza, the Director of Olive Tree Events was the brain behind this great cultural event 'Goan Fest 2006'. Inspite of all the odds, it is his determination and courage which saw the smooth running of the show and everyone present at the show appreciated his efforts.
