Mangalore, Sep 14: 'Curtains - Whodunnit' a musical comedy by Leila Alvares for Cause Foundation was staged at Town Hall on Friday September 13.
The play was presented by the Cause Foundation in association with the British Deputy High commission, Bangalore.
The story involves a play within a play wherein characters are mysteriously murdered. The comedy mystery was well received by the packed audience at town hall.
'Curtains -Whodunnit' is a Broadway musical show comprising of a crew ranging from students to entrepreneurs and doctors.
The live band of music and songs delivered a brilliant performance and added a realistic touch to the presentation. The talented team and the live band brought the theater act to life.
Led by director Leila Alvares, music ably composed by Vivek Menzel and dance directors Alisha Vanessa, Lionel and Rhea, the play entertained the audience as the story was relayed throughout the two hour performance.
The play featured lead actors like Shyju Varkey, Darius Taraporevala, Priya Mendes, Prem Koshy etc. The costumes and set added the right feel for the audience to enjoy.
The play within the play involves Boston’s Colonial Theatre which is set to host the opening night performance of a new musical. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage the entire cast and crew are held suspects. Enter a local detective, Lieutenant Frank Cioffi, who just happens to be a musical theatre fan.
After the finale, the foundation head Leila Alvares expressed her gratitude towards Mangalore city and its supporters with a special mention. The foundation also donated its share to two different charitable organisations in the city, one cheque was received by Suma Nayak from the Animal Care trust.
