Press Release
Melbourne, Feb 22: Way back in 1893, the famous Australian painter, Frederick McCubbin, noted for the celebrated paintings such as "Down on his Luck" and "The Bush Burial", was among the first painters to use the Blackburn Lake Sanctuary as the setting for his paintings. Many painters since then have been allured to the beautiful area with a bushland backdrop right in the middle of the built-up area of Blackburn near Melbourne.
It has extensive walking tracks and a man-made lake that attracts plenty of birds. There is a good playground for the children, as well as other attractions.
The Mangalorean Catholic Association of Victoria (MCAV) has decided to have its first event - a Family Day - at this wonderful place. This is an opportunity for the people of Mangalorean origin to meet one another and build new friendships!
The date is March 12th. All Mangalorean Catholics are cordially invited!
