Margao, Sep 3: "The infrastructure available at the institution has to be used extensively by the students to enrich their knowledge," said the Famous Konkani Tiatrist and Comedian par excellence Humbert Fernandes, while addressing the students at the valedictory function of “Srujanotsav 2013” at Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao Goa.
Further he said that he got the opportunity to see the talent and the zeal of the students. While sharing his experiences he told that college is not just a building, it is a “Mandir” where we have “Guru”. We get wisdom and knowledge in the college and this is given by the “Guruji” who makes us good human beings. At the same time he also appealed the parents not to force their own wishes and expectations on their children. Let the children decide about their own vocation.
This function was organized by the Department of Konkani. Dr Gunaji Desai, dean, Faculty of Languages and Literature introduced the chief guest and informed the parents attending the program about the various activities being organized by the Department for the all-round development of the students. This year Department of Konkani has started several new activities.
The program was inaugurated in a special way by doing Kalash Sthapana instead of the traditional lighting of lamp, no flowers were given to welcome the students instead they were given pens. Instead of making Flex banners and posters, this time the internet facilities were used for creating awareness about the Srujanotsav activities. In this way we are doing efforts for sensitizing the student community for saving the environment and taking care about the surroundings.
Vice principal, Dr N N Sawant said that if you have passion you can create. Creation is done only when you have a free mind. He also said that Department of Konkani is one of the most creative Departments of this College. There are lots of student related activities conducted by this Department and hence we have a very good teacher student relationship. It is not the building but the people staying in this institution make this institution so special.
A copy of the book 'Writer Ani Fighter' edited by Department of Konkani was presented at the hands of Dr N N Sawant to all the parents who graced the occasion.
