500 substandard helmets seized in Goa

Panaji, Sep 2 (IANS): Around 500 substandard helmets worth Rs.2 lakh were seized in Goa by police Monday.

The seizure is part of a Goa Police drive against helmets which do not carry the "Bureau of Indian Standards" ISI mark.

"We had received a tip off about this consignment. We seized around 500 helmets in the raid which had been brought into Goa for distribution from out of the state," police sub inspector D.S. Sawant said.

"All helmets have to be endorsed by ISI, because it is a life saving device...," the official said.
