Kundapur: Work on Kannada Kudru bridge to begin in a month - MLA

Kundapur, Sep 2: “The foundation stone for work on the connecting bridge to Kannada Kudru and a bridge to nearby stream of Varahamaraswamy Temple will be laid within one month and also proper measures will be taken to finish the work,” said Byndoor MLA Gopal Poojary.
He was addressing a felicitation programme organized at Kannada Kudru here on Sunday September 1.
“People feel that not enough importance has been given to this region. Hence, appropriate steps will be taken to develop Hejamady region. The government has granted over Rs 7.7 crore for the connecting bridge to Kannada Kudru and Rs 60 lac for the bridge to a nearby stream of Varahamaraswamy Temple. Tender will be announced by this month and the foundation stone ceremony will be performed by the PWD minister,” he added.
“In the next stage, work in Muchuttu, Hosangady, and Bagimane will be undertaken. For this work, the government has sanctioned Rs 2.5 crore. After the work on the bridge, the road work in Kannada Kudru will be completed. Fisheries road is being developed and there are also proposals for tarring the Kattu road," he said.
"Under the Varahi project of the irrigation department, for Kattu and Bantwadi dams, a machine gate at a cost of Rs 18 crore will be installed. Through this, the problem of salt water will be reduced,” added Poojary.
On this occasion, gram panchayath former vice-president Raju Devadiga, Hemmady gram panchayath president Sharath Kumar Shetty, gram panchayat member Rita Crasta, veteran leader John Crasta, and A J Crasta were present.
