Bangalore, Sep 1: Even as Congress government in the state completed 100 days in power on August 20, the BJP on Saturday August 31 brought out a book highlighting 101 mistakes committed by the government during the 100 days.
The book, titled '100 Days of Governance, 101 Mistakes', was released by BJP state president Prahlad Joshi in the presence of other BJP leaders at the party office in Malleshwaram.
Joshi said that BJP will distribute the books door-to-door after Ganeshotsava, so as to make people aware of the state government's faults.
"The state government has remained passive during the 100 days, and its achievements have been unimpressive. Even now the ministers are confined to their own constituencies. They have not visited areas affected by floods and drought. The proposal to form 43 taluks has been pushed into the cold storage. By withdrawing the ban on cow slaughter, the Congress government has indulged in politics of negligence," he alleged.
List of mistakes
The first among the 101 mistakes listed in the book is the delay in the government's ambitious 'Anna Bhagya' scheme. In addition, the central government's non-cooperation in the distribution of rice, and the fact that the government was forced to buy additional rice from Chhattisgarh are also mentioned.
Also, the Panchayat Raj Amendment Bill-2013 is aimed at curbing the powers of the gram panchayats, alleged BJP in the book.
The government has not released funds meant to assist farmers. Injustice has been done to students by holding CET exams after COMED-K. By giving green signal to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), the government has put the small traders in difficulty, states the book. Decision to put the formation of 43 taluks on hold has also been listed among the mistakes. The subsidy of Rs 4 to milk producers remains just an announcement. The announcement by the chief minister to take over the Udupi Ashta Maths, and then stating that the decision will be reviewed, has given rise to much angst and confusion among people, states the book.
BJP national chief secretary and MP Ananth Kumar, former CM Jagadish Shettar, MLA Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri and others were present.
"The achievements by the previous BJP government in its first 100 days had brought satisfaction. The Congress government's achievements in the same duration cannot be compared at all," said Ananth Kumar.
When reporters asked Ananth Kumar to comment on the fact that B S Yeddyurappa was the chief minister when BJP government completed its 100 days in power, he smiled and said, "The achievements in the first 100 days were of the BJP."
