Mangalore: Court announces quantum of punishment to Rashid Malbari

Mangalore, Aug 29: The fourth additional sessions court justice J B Nayak has announced quantum of punishment for Rashid Malbari and Mohammed Hashim for possession of illegal arms on Thursday August 29.

Rashid Malbari has been sentenced to five years of imprisonment for possession of arms under Indian Arms Act section 25, and a fine of Rs 10,000.

It is learnt that Rashid Malbari has already spent four years and six months in judicial custody. Hence he needs to spend another six months in jail.

    Media is summarily responsible for publicizing Malbari as sharp shooter even giving graphic accounts of how he attempted murder of various rival gang members. Court could only find that he had illegal weapon. Media should be held responsible for prounoucing accused guilty before trail and most importantly, if media got it right then, does it mean that a yet to be established killer will be roaming around freely in 6 months?

    Some Channels was repeatedly reporting the statements of Malabri, that he will look upon Mr.Venkatesh Prasanna after release from Jail. This itself shows that he waging war against Police Officials on duty, & desrespecting the Court Order. Perhaps, he should have been awarded Life-term imprisonment instead of present verdict, so that at least our nation guarding people can do their duty peacefully. Anyway we count, he is purely a hard core terrotist, & dangerous in national interest...& better imprison him for a longer period....or still longer period.
