Mangalore, Aug 28: As a new day dawned and everyone was busy with their own work, in a dustbin outside KMC Hospital on Balmatta New Road, Mangalore, lay a naked human being with flies hovering over him.
The White Doves of Mangalore spotted this man lying in garbage and swung into action. Ironically, many two-wheelers were parked close by and their riders and the people moving along this busy road had seen the man but chose to look the other way.
White Doves, an NGO, taking care of the destitute picked from the streets arrived in their van and picked up the man who was dirty and stinking as he had messed up, wrapped a bed sheet around him and lovingly took him to their home at Jail Road where the male inmates are housed. Immediately, Seetharam, aged around 26, was attended to by the loving staff, bathed, shaved, fed, and once again made to look like a human being.
The White Doves are presently taking care of 92 people picked up from the streets in various conditions irrespective of caste, creed, or religion.
