Mangalore, Aug 28: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, on behalf of the KPCC, observers R V Venkatesh, Nanjan Matt and Pandian on Wednesday August 28 visited the district Congress office to collect opinions from party activists.
Briefing media, district in-charge minister Ramanath said, "We as the party members have not taken any decision in the interest of individual, instead we have always given importance to the party’s benefit."
Commenting on the approaching Lok Sabha election, Rai said, "Congress has majority of chances to win as voters trust us. Various programmes in the interest of people especially poor was implemented after Congress came to power in state," said Rai stating it is the duty of all party members to make 'our candidate win in the election'.
Observer R V Venkatesh who is the legislative council member said Dakshina Kannada district has produced good leaders over the years and has the capability to win in the elections. The last Lok Sabha elections gave an unexpected results for the Congress but now the situation has changed as we have a majority and we also have our own government, ministers, MLA’s," he said.
About the by-poll election held last week, Venkatesh said the constituency in which Congress won was the major hold of JDS and they had thought that they will loose in these areas but they have now suffered a huge setback.
Observer Nanjan Matt said, "We are here to perform our duty to collect opinions from party activists about the forthcoming Lok Sabha election after which it will be forwarded to higher authorities."
Even with ample disagreement from the opposition party, Congress was successful in fulfilling its promises. Among the important promises, the ambitious project ‘Food Security bill’ which would benefit 65% of people was passed in Lok Sabha. It has been a dream of the Congress that no one in the country should spend their day in hunger, he added.
Congress leaders Kodijal Ibrahim, Vijay Kumar Shetty, B Ibrahim, Mithun Rai, Sadashiv Ullal, Shashidar Hegde, Suresh Ballal, T K Sudheer, Ivan D’Souza, Krupa Alva, Gulzar Banu, Asha D’Silva, Akila Alva, Sabitha Misquith, Jacintha Alfred among others were present.
