UP MLA arrested in Goa dance bar raid

Panji, Aug 28 (PTI): Uttar Pradesh MLA Mahendra Singh was among the six persons arrested by Goa Police following a raid at a Panaji dance bar who have been booked under the Anti-Prostitution Act, the police said. Police inspector Rajendra Prabhudesai Tuesday night said that Singh, the MLA from Sitapur constituency, was arrested Monday night.

Six girls, from Punjab, Delhi, Mumbai, UP and Chhattisgarh, were rescued during the raid.

Prabhudesai said police had already informed the UP Assembly Speaker about Singh's arrest as that was mandatory under law. Singh is reportedly a four-time MLA from Sitapur. Earlier, DSP Mahesh Gaonkar said that two other people from UP, were also arrested.

    Please note that if you drink liquor in legally licensed bar is not crime, but if you drink illicit liquor in unlicensed bar is crime in India. Taking charges for any work is not crime but if they take bribe it is criminal act. So people when we comment, we have see the case properly.

    The 3 people were caught not in dance bar or club. They were caught in Viva Goa Hotel special room with 6 girls (4 from Delhi and 1 from Maharastra and 1 from Punjab) The 6 girls were unknown to each other. The expenses for 1 night in hotel is Rs 20,000/- or more per night. ( See India TV news.) Just tell me like you person will enter such hotel/club/dance bar which is having 6 girls for 3 customers???? Police booked this case under the Anti-Prostitution Act,not as illegal dance bar.
