New Delhi, Aug 23 (IANS): Four people, including two women, were arrested in connection with the murder of an elderly woman and her daughter, police said Friday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajay Kumar said that Chandana, 26, Rakhal Mandal, 27, Prem Babu, 45, and Urmila, 30, were arrested late Thursday night from Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad and Greater Noida areas.
They had killed Ramwati, 85, and her daughter Rajni Thakur, 55, in their house at Laxmi Nagar in east Delhi Monday morning and had ransacked the house, Kumar said.
Two gold bangles, a pair of earrings and mobile phones belonging to the deceased were recovered from them.
Chandana worked as a maid in the house.
"Rajni used to boast about a huge income they got from renting houses. A few days ago, Rajni had told Chandana that her bangles were worth Rs.2 lakh, Kumar said.
Chandana then hatched the plan with the other accused to murder and rob the duo.
