Phnom Penh, Aug 21 (IANS): A six-year-old Cambodian boy has been confirmed positive for H5N1 virus, bringing the number of the cases to 17 in the country this year.
The boy was found positive for human H5N1 avian influenza Aug 17 after he showed signs of fever, headache, abdominal pain, vomiting, cough and lethargy, Xinhua reported.
The boy came into contact with sick poultry. "The boy has now recovered," said a joint statement by the WHO and the Cambodian health ministry.
Only seven of the 17 cases this year have survived, the statement added.
