Ammonia leak kills three in Mexico

Mexico City, Aug 21 (IANS): At least three people died and 10 others were injured in an ammonia gas leak from a pipeline in southern Mexico.

About 1,500 people were evacuated from the area and taken to shelters in the southern state of Oaxaca, the pipeline's owner state oil company Pemex said, reports Xinhua.

The leak was caused by heavy machinery operated by a private company doing road work. In January, nearly 40 people were killed in a massive explosion at Pemex's Mexico City headquarters.
