Udupi: UPPA Award presented to Arun Shirali

Udupi, Aug 19: "A picture is worth thousand words. During the time of black and white pictures, it was an adventure to take pictures. Now it is the digital era that rules," said MLA Pramod Madhwaraj.
He was speaking at world photographer’s day programme held under the joint aegis of Udupi Press Photographers Association and Rotary Malpe, Kodavoor.
Arun M Shirali, a photographer with Udupi Modern studio for the last forty-five years was felicitated with ‘Chaya Spoorthi’ title by Madhwaraj on the occasion. He added on the occassion that the professionals in their respective fields get encouraged when they are identified by the public.
Chief guest, Rotary district 3180 second zonal assistant governor, M Mahesh Kumar said, "The studio with a large number of customers is famous in Udupi. When we follow the path laid down by the teacher, we are sure to excel."
The programme was attended by Rotary president Poornima Janardhan, Sharath Kanangi, Hemanath Padubidri, Ganesh Kalyanpur, Umesh Kukkupalke, Geetha Arun Shirali, Sudarshan Rao, etc.
The president of UPPA, Astro Mohan welcomed. Rotary secretary Janardhan Kodavoor delivered the keynote address. Secretary of UPPA, Jayaprakash Kini delivered the vote of thanks.
