Karkala, Aug 17: In a heartening news for the people of coastal region, former international sportsman Rohit Kumar Kateel has been chosen as manager for Indian contingent that will participate in the World Masters Athletics to be held in Brazil.

The 20th World Masters Athletics Championship - 2013 will be held from October 16 to October 27 at Porto Alegre, Brazil.

A former champion at high jump both at state and national levels, Rohit Kumar Kateel has the distinction of becoming the first Indian to participate in the World Junior Athletics Championship in high jump category

Presently, Rohit Kumar is employeed with Jeevan Bima Nigam in Karkala.

His selection as manager was officially announced by Masters Athletics Federation of India general secretary D David Premnath.
