Mangalore: Dayanand Kukkaje freed - Hypocrisy, jealousy exposed
Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore
Mangalore, Aug 15: Justice has prevailed, and hypocrisy and jealousy have been defeated. Dayanand Kukkaje, daijiworld's ace photojournalist who was falsely accused of sexually harassing a girl, has been let free, with him being declared innocent and the complainant admitting that she was under pressure.
Daya was accused of befriending a girl on Facebook and later taking advantage of her in his flat. The police had taken him into questioning. Though a couple of media reported that he was 'arrested', the police clarified that he was only detained for questioning.
In a day of dramatic developments, the complainant was asked to appear in the judge's residence (as court was on holiday on account of Independence Day), where she admitted that she had been under pressure from some persons to give the false statement against Daya. She also apologized before the judge.
The girl also agreed to withdraw her complaint.
ACP Kavitha told reporters here that Daya was falsely accused and that after going through all the record and statements, Daya was declared innocent.
The same evening, Daya was released on surety submitted by two persons. Sources said that the girl would be asked to appear in court on Friday August 16.
Daijiworld has reliably learnt that a deep-rooted conspiracy was behind the incident. Since the matter still awaits fulfillment of legal formalities, daijiworld will not disclose the names now. However, in the coming days those who tried to malign acclaimed photojournalist Dayanada Kukkaje will be exposed.
Daya has thanked his friends and well-wishers for keeping their trust on him and standing by him during the most difficult time of his life.
