The police have learnt that there were seven persons in the group that attacked and killed Salam, and their attempts to leave to the Gulf in a bid to escape cannot be ruled out. The police therefore have issued a lookout notice for them.
The investigating police officials have said that the group is led by Naushad. The police know that the remaining five accused belong to Trissur. The police have stepped up investigations for their arrest. Robbery was said to be their main motive. Naushad the chief in the group have said to have taken the help of robbers in Trissur for the purpose.
Naushad and Rameez were related to murdered Abdul Salam and knew the activities in the house. The group had gone to Trikaripura two days before the crime and passed on information of the house to the others. They had assumed that there will be a lot of valuables in the house. They had hired vehicles from Nileshwar and committed the crime by entering the house of Abdul Salam on August 5 and strangled him to death after tying his wife and children.
The investigation that was centered on the sim card bought in Nileshwar market by the culprits enabled the police to obtain more information. The sim card was switched off after a few hours. The investigation based on hired cars helped the police to arrest the accused.
The house was full of luxury items including CCTV camera that was destroyed by the accused and the hard disk taken away by them. It was a pre-planned crime, say police. Details of items stolen is yet to be ascertained. Naushad and Rameez had come only three months ago from the Gulf.
