Mangalore, Aug 13: The Konkani Natak Sabha will be celebrating its 70th anniversary on Sunday September 29, at Don Bosco Hall, Mangalore. On the occasion of the anniversary, the ‘muhurtham’ of the Konkani play ‘Ootre Uzwadle’, written by Pradeep Barboza, Paladka, was held on Monday August 12 at Don Bosco Hall, Mangalore.
Victro Monteiro, former president of KCWA, Kuwait, was the chief guest. On behalf of Pradeep Barboza, his uncle Avit Barboza was present. The guests present on the occasion lit the lamp and sought divine intervention for the success of the play. Avit Barboza handed over the text to director Adolphus Cutinha (Dolla, Mangalore) and assistant director Claud D’Souza and wished them and the artistes. The theme of the play was later narrated by Dolla and the roles were distributed to the artistes.
Avit Barboza shared his experience in the field of drama and wished all the artistes. Monteiro congratulated Konkani Natak Sabha for organizing the play and wished the cast and crew all success.
Vice-president Dolphy Saldanha, general secretary Sunil Menezes, joint secretary Lynette P Kamath, and treasurer Prem Lobo were also present.
Saldanha welcomed the gathering. General secretary Sunil Menezes proposed the vote of thanks and CGS Taccode compeered the programme which was well attended.
