Mangalore: Talents galore at Konkani singing contest semi-final

Mangalore, Aug 13: The semi-final of the Golden Konkani Singing Competition organized by Konkani Natak Sabha for adults was held on Sunday August 11 at Don Bosco Hall here.

Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Prem Lobo introduced the judges, Martin D’Souza and Dolphy Saldanha compered the programme and Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks and announced the results.

Fr Paul Sequeira, Antony Martis, Rony D’Cunha and Dr Prashath Raj were the judges for the competition.
 
 
The following contestants qualified for the grand finale:

    What no comments at all?
    Waiting for me only Yeah? O.K.
    Now I have also one talent..which many don't have....Looking at girl's face only I can tell whether they can sing or not....Unique talent ...Yes or No?
    Men except for a very few here and there...usually croak...not much in mans voice ...I tell you...
    What judge and all -5 6 for this...men too? Can they croak I mean sing like the beautiful ladies out there?

    What a colorful gathering with so many young talents on the stage displaying their very best to the audience. How come so many seats are empty for such an auspicious occasion? Where are the nuns and the priests? Where are the parents and family members of so many contestants?

    Contests such as these need an all-out support from the community. This is one way to encourage the youth to come forward and devote their time and talents for worthy causes.

    We have had the opportunity of attending some of these contests and we were truly thrilled with the performance. We must somehow fill up the audience in order to motive the contestants to come forward in a larger number year after year.

    Meanwhile congratulations to all those that were instrumental in organizing this Show.
