Kundapur, Aug 13: A group of about 30 persons attacked a family at Mookambika Janata Colony of Sharke near Vandse here. The miscreants who barged into the house of one Nazir Saheb around 11 pm on Sunday August 11 night, attacked the inmates and left them injured.
The injured have been identified as Nazir Saheb’s sons Imran (18), Rizwan (21), Irfan (17) and wife Faridabanu (40). Nazir Saheb is the pump operator of Vandse panchayat and was vested with the responsibility of releasing water for Mookambika Janata Colony.
However a person identified as Uday had raised objection about this and had stopped Nazir Saheb from releasing the water. Thereafter Uday himself was looking after the supply of water. However the residents of the colony had complained that Uday was not doing the duty properly and even missed releasing the water at times. This had caused scarcity of drinking water in the Colony.
Accordingly, Nazir Saheb’s second son Imran had recently released drinking water to the Colony. After this he had taken out the fuse and had kept it near the pump. Peeved with this development, Uday along with his friends Gopal, CD Manja, Vinod, Avinash, Mahesh and others had forcibly entered into Nazir Saheb’s house on Sunday night, attacked the inmates.
Later the attackers got themselves admitted into the government hospital here in order to escape from the police.
A complaint and a counter-complaint in this regard has been filed in Kollur police station.
