Darjeeling, Aug 12 (IANS): A Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) vice president and a leader of its women's wing were arrested as the indefinite shutdown in north West Bengal's Darjeeling Hills entered the 10th day Monday.
GJM vice president Kalyan Dewan, elected member of hill development body Gorkhaland Territorial Administration, was picked up from Kalimpong town in connection with some old cases of rioting and damaging public property, said Additional Superintendent of Police (Kalimpong) Songmit Lepcha.
Geeta Chettri, leader of GJM's Nari Morcha, was picked up from Darjeeling for her alleged involvement in some old cases, police said.
