Muscat: MCCP to commence 22nd year with gala event

Muscat, Aug 12: The Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP – Sts Peter and Paul Church – Ruwi) will organize an inaugural function of the year 2013 – 2014 on Friday August 16 in the main parish hall of Sts Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi to mark the commencement of their 22nd year in the Sultanate of Oman.
The newly formed executive committee under the leadership of Lancy Lobo has already planned an exciting and entertaining programme for the members of MCCP. The programme will commence with a High Mass in Konkani at 10 am in the main hall of Sts Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi. An entertaining cultural programme will begin after the Holy Mass followed by a traditional lunch.
Talking about the exciting and entertaining year that has been planned for the members of MCCP, the young and energetic new president Lancy Lobo says, "We hope to make the forthcoming year the most special in the history of MCCP. In this year we want to focus on our homeland – Mangalore, its rich culture and great tradition. We want to give special attention to our mother tongue, Konkani with top priority to entertainment by our own artistes in all our events. We have dedicated this year for the families and thus we want to involve more and more families in our events. This will help us to build a strong bond within the Mangalorean community in Oman. We the team 2013 – 14 have a strong and special desire to create a vibrant platform to offer multiple opportunities to more talents of our community, old as well as new."
MCCP Inaugural Function 2013 - a complete entertaining programme will have scintillating dances, rib-tickling skits and above all melodious songs by community artistes and singers. It is also learnt that two of the best known anchors of the community will lead the programme to give a perfect touch to the entertainment.
“We, the executive committee, have specially dedicated this 22nd year of MCCP to the families and come up with a meaningful theme – ‘Exemplary Family – Foundation of the Society ’ (Dekivonth Kutam – Somajechi Bunyaad),” says Nancy Vaz, a multi-talented artiste and MCCP’s newly-elected vice-president, cultural, spiritual and community services committee. "Our programmes of the year will be based on families. There will be plenty of excitement and entertainment throughout the year. I request all the members of MCCP and their families to actively participate in this year’s programme and make this year a memorable one to all of us."
