Bantwal, Aug 12: “Conservation of forests is not only the duty of the government or departments. It is also the social responsibility of every individual. Just as food is important to us, maintaining the equilibrium of the earth for a good environment is also necessary. Hence, the forest, and protection of the environment should be our priority,” said B Ramanatha Rai, minister for forest, ecology, and environment.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 'Vanamahostava' programme of 'Laksha Vruksha Abhiyana' organized by Vamadapadavu zone Congress and Youth Congress in Karimale Late Ramesh Pai Convention Hall on Saturday August 10.
"Along with strengthening the Forest Conservation Act, new laws will be framed to preserve and nurture natural resources. By planting the trees, every home should preserve a good environment for future generations. The government’s educational programme for development like 'Ksheera Bahagya' will be implemented and this will be helpful for an educated, cultured, and healthy society," he said.
Vamadapadavu zone Congress president Ammu Rai Harkadi presided on the occasion.
