Myanmar sets up panel to boost reform

Yangon, Aug 10 (IANS): Myanmar has formed a national committee to direct efforts on reform programme, official media said Saturday.

Summoning cabinet ministers, deputy ministers and chief ministers of region and state governments, President U Thein Sein urged them to form task forces and working groups to implement the policies on the ground through cooperation and coordination, reported Xinhua.

He called on government ministers to fulfil the prioritised tasks to bring positive results to the people, cooperate closely with local and foreign academicians, private organisations and civil society organisations, and listen to the voices and wishes of the people.

The president stressed that priority should be given to promote livelihood of farmers, workers, blue-collar workers and the poor, creation of job opportunities and development of farm sectors and small and medium enterprises.
