Udupi: One killed, another injured in separate quarry accidents

Udupi, Aug 8: One person was killed and another injured in two separate quarry incidents that occured at Nalkoor here on Friday August 9.
At Kajke
At Miyar
Dinesh (30) from Uttar Pradesh was killed after he fell from a huge rock at a quarry at Miyar on Thursday August 8, and passed away in Manipal hospital on Friday.
The quarry is owned by Praveen Hegde, sources said.
In another incident, Narasimha Nayak (40) was injured in a blast at Kajke which comes under Nalkoor.
It is said that Narasimha was earlier working at Ertady stone crushing site and had now come to Kajke. It is alleged that he was illegally crushing a stone by blasting it, which resulted in him getting injured.
He was admitted to KMC hospital, Manipal in a critical condition.
Speaking to daijiworld, Hebri police said that further investigations are on. Asked whether neglicence in following safety rules had caused the accidents, police said that most quarries do not follow rules.
Hebri police have registered a case.
