New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS): Thousands of children are in need of psycho-social support and supplementary nutrition after the devastating floods in Uttarakhand, an NGO said Tuesday.

"Thousands of children need immediate psycho-social support as they have suffered trauma. They also need supplementary nutrition," said Pradeep Kumar, a member of the relief team of voluntary organisation Save the Children.

The NGO also said that they have set up temporary learning centres in 10 villages.

Save the Children has also brought out an assessment report on Uttarakhand disaster in collaboration with other civil society organisations.

"We have come out with a multi-sectoral assessment report that covers four most affected districts of Uttarkashi, Tehri Garhwal, Rudrprayag and Chamoli. It takes into account the schools damaged and status of the families who have no livelihood options other than tourism. The report will be shared with the government and other civil society organisations," said Devendra Tak, national manager, Save the Children.

More than 1,500 people were killed and over 5,000 are missing after Uttarakhand was hit by one of the worst floods in the state in June this year.
