Bangalore: Three labourers killed, over 10 injured in building collapse

Bangalore, Aug 6: Three labourers were on Monday August 5 killed and over 10 others injured when an under-construction building collapsed at Kengeri on the outskirts of the city.
The building collapsed when the labourers were at work, home minister K J George, who visited the spot, told reporters.
Two victims were from north Karnataka and another from north India, the minister said and added that police and fire officials were carrying out rescue work.
The injured were rushed to a hospital, transport minister Ramalinga Reddy, in charge of Bangalore, said.
The deceased have been identified as Venkatesh (40) of Sunkadakatte, Shivakumar (25) from Gulbarga, and Kumuresh (25) from Bihar.
Over 10 persons including Yamanurappa from Gulbarga, Shivakumar, Lalchand and Gurudev from Andhra Pradesh were seriously injured, said sources. They have been admitted in various hospitals in the city.
It is said that the labourers were engaged in the construction of a wedding hall at Bandemath in Kangeri. The work on the lower floors was over and the labourers were working on the centring to lay concrete for the upper floor.
On Monday, nearly 15 labourers were at work on the floor when the centring collapsed all of a sudden. Three of them died on the spot while others were trapped in the debris.
Fire personnel rushed to the spot and began rescue efforts. Senior police officials also arrived.
