Mangalore, Jan 30: Gahan M G (Canara Boys, Mangalore), top-seeded in under-12, continued his brilliant form, scoring unbeaten 6 points in 6 rounds to bag the title in Under-12 category.

Vishwas Saralaya (TA Pai School, Udupi) managed to remain at the top after facing strong challenge by Sanjay J Rao to claim the Under 17 title with 4.5 points in 5 rounds.

Manasa K (Sri Ramakrishna, Mangalore) marginally outplayed her rivals to clinch title with all wins in 5 rounds in under 17 Girls.

Vanessa D'Souza(St Agnes, Mangalore) dominated the under 12 Girls, sweeping the rounds with 5 points in 5 rounds to bag the honour.

Prizes were distributed by Prasanna Herle, ICICI Prudencial Insurance Co; Yashwanth Devadiga, Branch Manager, Syndicate Bank;K S Kamath, Chartered Accountant; Srinivas Nayak, Vice President, Chess Assn D.K;
