Chandigarh, Aug 2 (IANS): Punjab's ruling Akali Dal will go with the Bharatiya Janata Party's choice of its prime ministerial candidate, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said Friday.
"Being a key ally, the Shiromani Akali Dal would go along with the BJP's choice for prime ministerial candidate," Badal, who is the patron of the Akali Dal, told media in Kapurthala town, 190 km from here.
Badal said that deciding the issue of prime ministerial candidate was an internal matter of the BJP, adding that SAD would support every person selected by the BJP.
"The Akali Dal-BJP alliance was very firm and as a part of NDA (National Democratic Alliance), they would ensure that Congress is routed in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. We would extend fulsome support to BJP on whatever they decide about the prime ministerial candidate," he added.
Badal denied that there were any differences between the Akali Dal and the Punjab unit of the BJP. He said that all decisions of the state government were taken jointly by the alliance partners.
