Panaji, Aug 2 (IANS): Mumbai has "quality" supply of power with relatively stable voltage, but a lot needs to be done to improve the power scenario outside the metropolis, a top official said here Friday.
"The quality of power and voltage in Mumbai is relatively ok, but outside the metropolis we have a long way to go," V.P. Raja chairman of the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission told a conference organised by the Independent Power Producers' Association of India (IPPAI) in Goa.
Raja also said that for nearly one third of India's population electricity was still out of reach and that much was needed to be done in order to streamline the power delivery system nationally.
"Power Infrastructure building is still a work in progress in India," he said, adding that the setting up of a national power grid would help beef up India's power capabilities to a large degree.
