Mangalore: Nalin Kateel inaugurates annual feast of Bondel Church

Mangalore, Aug 2: The celebration of the annual feast of St Lawrence Church, Bondel began by hoisting a flag at church premises here on Friday August 2.

The celebration was flagged off by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

As part of the annual celebration, 9 days Novena will be held from August 1 at 6 pm while the annual celebration will be held on August 10.

The annual celebration mass was offered by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza at 10 am and Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu will offer the festal mass at 6 pm.

The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by Novena offered by Fr Victor Machado.

Fr Andrew D’Souza, parish priest of Bondel Church, Fr Patrick Sequeira, assistant parish priest, vice-president Rudolph Pinto, secretary Reginald D’Souza, Stany Alvares, corporators Akhila Alva, Harinath, Kavitha Sanil, Mahabala Marla, Deepak Poojary among others were present.

Hundreds of faithful flocked to the church to take part in the celebrations and seek blessings.

    It was an opportunity to Mr Kateel to understand specially Mangalorean catholic who does not believe in fighting against any religion and they are peace loving , hard working and developmental attitude.

    Christians should also invite Hindu and Muslim Scholars to give lectures so that we can understand each other better while standing firm in our own faith.

    Christians may have ideological differences with Mr. Kateel, that doesn't mean that we should keep him away. He is a respectable man.

    good to see my mangalore back .. we all mangaloreans lived in unity and brotherhood.
    we still love tulu language irrespective of our mother tongue being konkani or kannada.

    Really heartening to see this....this is the mangalore I grew up in... Where we all lived and participated in each others joy without religious consideration.... Always grew up in a Hindu family but my mother would without fail take us every year to the urwa church feast to light candles...
