Udupi, Jul 31: Where there is a will, there is a way - oft repeated and cliched words, but nothing could explain the action of elected representatives and officials better.
A day after daijiworld highlighted the issue of water problem in the Varambally gram panchayat ward in Brahmavar, the panchayat officials pulled up their socks and got the problem solved by taking necessary action, less than 24 hours after the report went online on daijiworld.

The ward in Varambally panchayat limits was facing acute shortage of water. After residents complained, the water supply had been stopped altogether, but released later. However, the residents of this particular ward continued to face problems.
After the issue was flashed on daijiworld, the local panchayat members made arrangements for drinking water through tankers for the public, with the help of MLA Pramod Madhwaraj. At the same time, a new pump set was installed to solve the problem altogether.
Panchayat members explained that due to shortage of labourers, it took time to solve the problem.
Pramod Madhwaraj and Jayaprakash Hedge took special interest in solving the problem and assured that it would NOT repeat in the future.
In a letter to daijiworld, Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde said, "I have spoken to the locals and the panchayat. The information I have got is that there was a mechanical failure with the motor. It has been repaired and water has been released as of today morning."
Varamabally panchyath president Sharada, vice-president Christine D'Silva, former president Rajesh Shetty Birti, former president S Narayana, and panchayat members Nithyanada Brahmavar, Naveen and others worked hard the entire day to solve the problem.
