Mangalore: Congress remembers Bondala Jagannath Shetty

Mangalore, Jul 31: The first death anniversary of former district Youth Congress president Bondala Jagannath Shetty was observed by the district Congress committee in the city on Wednesday July 31.
Fruits were distributed to the patients of Lady Goshen district hospital under the leadership of district Congress secretary T K Sudhir and Vishwas Das to mark the occasion.
People-friendly plans and works carried out under his Shetty's leadership as the president from 2001 to 2009 were also remembered on the occasion.
A condolence meet was organized in the district Congress office to mark his death anniversary. National-level Sadbhavana rally, free rice distribution, sari distribution for poor women, blood donation camp and other works carried out during his times were remembered on the occasion.
Silent prayer and floral tributes were offered to Bondala Shetty's portrait.
Congress leaders Suresh Ballal, Nagendra Kumar, Hospital Superintendent Dr Shakunthala, Mithun Rai, Praveen Chandra Alva, A C Vinayraj, Prakash Salian, Rajneesh, Herbert D’Silva Kadekar, Vijayalakshmi, Sudhir Kadekar, Denis D’Silva, Hemanth kumar, Anil Rasquinha, Krithin Kumar, Gurupraveen Bhat, Nithin Gatty, Ranjan Shetty, Girish, Nawaz Jeepu, Aboobakar, Azwald Furthada, Nazir Bajal and others were present on the occasion.
Bondala Jagannath Shetty, a Congress leader from Bantwal-Puttur region who had held the DK district Youth Congress president's post from 2001 to 2009, died when his Fortuner SUV collided with a gas tanker near Panemangalore on July 31, 2012.
