Karkala, Jan 28: Former inspector of the state police Girish Mattennavar on Friday visited Yennehole to collect public opinion about Daya Nayak, Mumbai crime branch inspector currently under suspension and scam enquiry.
After meeting villagers and Radha Nayak High school Students, he expressed a wish to launch a state-level movement in support of Daya Nayak with the help of Yennehole residents and other Kannadigas.
He said he had plans to lead a representation to the government of Maharashra to convince it of the facts.
Maharashtra's top police officers and dreaded gangsters were trying to undermine Daya Nayak through this game-plan, he alleged.
Students and villagers expressed their high respect for Daya Nayak to Mattennavar and they said they had all confidence that their hero would come clean in this crisis.
Mattennavar spent more than an hour in the school and with the villagers.
Trustee of Radha Nayak Education Trust Shivakumar, scholl welfare committee president P Haji, Jayaraj Nadimar and others accompanied Mattennavar. Hundreds of villagers had gathered as the news spread that Girish Mattennavar, who is spearheading an anti-corruption campaign in the state, had come to Yennehole.
