Mangalore, Jan 28: One of the major contributions of the students of School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya is the organizing of the annual fests, which become forums for students of social work to meet and interact. The initial fests were university level, but later grew to South India level and on Friday, the national level event Spandana 2k6 took off at the college auditorium.


Collegiate Education Bangalore director Prof K V Kodandaramaiah inaugurated the event. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the latest advancements in technology have taken away the human element from the society. “It is inevitable to avoid the technological advancements but one has to learn to utilize them well and use them within its limits.



Forums like these must churn out clear information for the policy makers of the nation,” he said.
According to him the ultimate test of social development is commitment, concern and contribution.
The chief guest Collegiate Education, Mangalore region office joint director W Linda Christy also spoke on the occasion

Founder principal Dr Olinda Periera, principal Jacinta D'Souza. Staff co-ordinator Prof Ronald Sequiera, student co-ordinator Nitin Kumar and student secretary, Sr Oravia were present on the stage.

An overwhelming response, over 20 colleges from various parts of the India. The farthest colleges were Birds, Belgaum, Stella Mary’s College, Chennai, Shankracharya College, Tiruvar, Srimadh College Tiruchinapalli, Mysore University College and BVP College Solapur.
