Bangalore, Jan 27: The crucial State Assembly session, which decides the fate of Dharam Singh Government, began here around noon today.
The Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh could not move the vote of confidence at 11 am as per the original schedule, as the proceedings were disturbed when many members kicked up a row over the presence of two officers from Raj Bhavan in the Officers' gallery of the Assembly.
The row ended when Speaker Krishna announced that he had reserved a ruling on the issue.
The House later took up obituary references. The Speaker read out the names of eminent personalities, who passed away after the previous Assembly session.
As leaders of Congress, BJP and JD(S) were paying homage to the former President of India late K.R. Narayanan, Dr. M.C. Modi, Dr. H.L. Nagegowda, journalist S.G. Mysoorumutt, Dr. D.M. Nanjundappa and others, one of the members requested the Speaker at around 1.30 pm to adjourn the House for lunch. However, other members rejected the suggestion.
The members, in fact, were eagerly waiting for the Chief Minister to table the confidence motion. Sensing the mood of the members, Deputy Chief Minister M.P. Prakash told them that his prolonged speech of paying homage was not a delaying tactic.
