Islamabad, July 28 (IANS): At least 21 people were killed and over a dozen fell unconscious after drinking toxic alcohol in Pakistan's industrial city of Faisalabad, Xinhua reported Saturday.
The incident occurred Friday when several people fell unconscious after consuming poisonous liquor in different areas of the city, located in Punjab province.
In the city's Warispura area, at least 17 people were killed and over a dozen fell unconscious after drinking toxic liquor during a party. Four people were affected in Batala Colony, and died in hospital.
To evade the incident from police attention, the victims' relatives first took them to private hospitals. However when their condition deteriorated, the victims were rushed to government- run hospital where they were kept in intensive care units.
Hospital officials said over 10 people were still under treatment at the hospital.
