Bantwal: 23-year-old Kaushik Shetty dies in bike-lorry accident

Bantwal, Jul 26: A youngster lost his life when a lorry rammed into his bike on national highway at Ramalkatte here on Friday July 26.

The deceased is Kaushik Shetty (23), son of Devadas Shetty, member of Bantwal town municipal council (TMC).

Kaushik was riding towards Mangalore with his friend Sanjith Bhandary (23), son of Umesh Bhandary, when a lorry moving towards Bantwal hit his bike. He was rushed to Father Muller hospital at Thumbay where he was pronounced brought dead.

Sanjith who was riding pillion sustained serious injuries. He has been admitted to hospital in Kankanady, Mangalore. His condition is said to be critical.

Kaushik was running Sriram Nandini milk parlour near Bantwal bypass and used to also take contracts for minor works. It is said that he even possessed a contractor's licence.

On the day of the accident, he was going to Mangalore on work with his childhood friend and neighbour Sanjith.

He was the elder among Devadas Shetty's two sons. The younger son is pursuing his PU studies in Alva's College, Moodbidri.

Devadas Shetty, a member of BJP, was instrumental in the formation of the party's district unit and served as its principal secretary.

Kaushik's body was handed over to the family after post-mortem. Hundreds of well-wishers, friends, relatives and party leaders and supporters visited Devadas Shetty's residence near Bantwal bypass to pay their last respects.

Bantwal police have registered a case.

    I am very saddened to hear this boy is no more(seen him many times in his shop). What even more distributing that one more software engineer from bantwal died in b'lore road accident. 2days back. No one this earth could escape fatality happeing in just a second.

    I advise all readers here to advise known bike riders to follow simple rules.
    - Wear helmet even if shades face.
    - Keep eye on vehicles on mirrors. Most youth remove mirrors for fun.
    - Lower the speed, longer the life.
    - Don't overtake trucks, bus, cars.
    - Finally be alert!! parents are waiting in home.

    I had commented previously only a few days back, when a similar accident had taken place that in many occasions the motor-bike riders ride recklessly zig-zag to reach as fast as possible by overtaking heavy vehicles from left or right whenever little space they get. In the above pictures also, one can easily make out that the bike was probably wrongly overtaken the truck from the left side of this heavy vehicle, which is against traffic rule. Why our youths are in so much hurry and make their beloved parents suffer and cry for rest of their life? Its very sad, and we can only pray that may his soul RIP.

    Very unfortunate to hear the loss of young life in view of lorry bike accident.It is really sad to note that the accidents are really increasing in the Coastal Karnataka.It may be due to deffective driving licence system,inefficient RTO's or the neglegance.The government has to find out the causes for accident and take suitable corrective steps.Thanq.

    Young boy Kaushik Shetty lost his life his parents might have expected so many dreams about his future carrier. Great loss for his parents talented boy unnecessary no more, this is matter of great sorrow.Two wheeler riders always take precautionery measures of heavy vehicles while riding on the road or entering into the wrong side because any place heavy vehicle drivers not bothered about two wheeler riders. We pray god to give strenghth to his parents to control the situation'

    All this happens becuase of weak law and corruption in India. If the law was strict and responsible people severly fined those breaking the laws then all these incidents will be avoided. In India one can pay rs 200 bribe and escape from the traffic offense. no one has fear of the law.

    People drive and ride on the wrong side of the road to save a little bit of everything as a result mishaps happen. Unless one is too cautious while on wrong side fatal accidents bound to occur every now and then. Better avoid breaking rules. "Better late than never reach the destination."

    Please two wheeler riders follow personal safety and traffic rules on roads, Not only just in highways. Ride carefully and make sure other vehicles are maintaining safe distance to yours. Please don't ride too fast no mater what emergency, be safe first. Remember your family loves you, waiting for you or may depends on you.
    Heavy vehicle drivers please take care of two wheeler and other small vehicles, everyone life is so valuable. Don't put others life in risk.

    A word to the perents and care takers of the young boys in Karavali who own new generation two wheelers/bikes...please have an eye on the riding behavior of the childrens especially during raining days when raods are wet and guide them properly to take care of self.Go slow does not cost much but go speed may cost dearly.Every life is precious and when we see young life is ruining,it is so much painful to all.This is my humble appeal.Please have seriousness.

    It was a mistake of Kaushik shetty. I request specially 2 wheeler and 3 wheelers don't go in wrong direction for saving a fuel and time instead take a u turn it will take extra fuel and time but don't risk your life

    Bikers please wear your rain gears, specially helmet. 6 wheelers are practicing for F1 championship. We bikers better be on our guard.

    Guess whose mistake ? No use on blaming truck drivers. 2 wheelers have to follow the rules first. You shouldnt go in wrong direction. better don't overtake from left. don't ride too fast neither too slow in highway. wear helmet.follow the traffic rules. I agree truck and bus drivers drives careessly without any traffic rules even 2 wheelers too. In above pic it clearly shows it was bike riders mistake.
