Kundapur, Jul 24: Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds have once again created problems for people living along the coastline. In Kodi, sea erosion has taken place and the winds have blown away roofes of a few houses.
Due to continuous sea erosion in the area, locals fear losing Kodi-Beejadi connectivity road.
Kundapur tahsildar Gayatri Nayak visited the place on Sunday. But as no action was taken, while the sea erosion continues to worsen leaving a part of the road damaged.
Kinara Hotel, which is next to the road in Koteshwar gram panchayat is in a state of danger as no barrier wall has been constructed on the front facing the sea. Hundreds of houses and shops in the area are also facing problems.
Despite the increased in sea erosion in the area for the past 4 days, the elected representatives are least bothered to visit the place, allege locals. As no stones are installed on the seashore as a protective barrier, locals have demanded officials concerned to take appropriate steps soon and protect the people.
Every year, the problem of sea erosion dogs the area and this year is no different. The locals fear that if this continues for another two days, the roads may get washed away. Officials who had promised help did not act accordingly and MLAs have not visited the place yet, they say.
