New Delhi, Jul 22 (IANS): Three foreigners, including a woman, who were part of an international drug racket, were arrested and over 900 gm contraband worth Rs.1 crore recovered, police said Sunday.
Tibetan woman Tsering Choezom, 30, and Nigerian nationals Isika Collins, 27, and Omenoys Favor, 27, were arrested from west Delhi's Tilak Nagar area July 18, police said.
The three were living in Delhi for the last few years and got into the business of drug peddling to earn a quick buck, police said.
According to police, the accused were involved in sending by courier banned drugs and psychotropic substances to other countries, after concealing them in decorative products.
They were arrested on the complaint of a parcel company owners who had received a packet from Choezom. The packet got delayed due to incomplete documents which led to an impatient Choezom calling the owner repeatedly.
"She (Choezom) was getting very anxious and agitated because of the delay, so the owner became suspicious and informed us," said a police officer.
On opening the packet, 640 grams of methaqualone - a party drug - was recovered. Another 300 grams were seized from the accused, police said.
The total value of the seizure was Rs.1 crore, said an official.
Choezom posed as Pooja Ray and often sent packets to the Netherlands, Australia, Liberia and other countries through a courier service.
