Mangalore, Jul 22: Almost a year after the infamous attack on a home stay at Padil, one of the accused who was absconding all this while has been arrested.
Manu alias Manoj (23), residing in Gurpur Kaikamba near Kandavara Padavu was arrested during an operation conducted by Bajpe and Mangalore rural police.
Following the incident that took place on July 28, 2012, Manoj was hiding in places like Kodagu and Mysore. Police on accurate information arrested him near Moodbidri on Sunday July 21 and produced him in the court. The court has sent him to judicial custody.
Manoj is also an accused in an attempt to murder case and is involved in four other cases and was wanted by the Bajpe police.
With his arrest, the number of arrests made in the case has risen to 38. Police had chargesheeted 44 persons.
Among the 44 accused, 37 of them were previously arrested, while the rest were absconding. Among the 38, 19 were released on bail, while another 19 of them are in judicial custody.
