New Delhi, Jul 21 (IANS): The re-development and up-grade of the Bawana and Narela industrial areas here is almost complete and both will be ready before the deadline of December.
Delhi Industry Minister Haroon Yusuf, who recently visited the two areas, described the quality of work as world class, said a statement from the Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corp (DSIIDC) Sunday.
Work on Bawana cost Rs.57 crore and on Narela Rs.130 crore. These covered roads, parking space, drains, water lines and electrical work.
The concessionaire will maintain the services of the areas for another 13 years after construction.
The Bawana and Narela industrial areas are spread over 1,922 acres and 612 acres respectively. Bawana has 16,312 industrial units and about 3,000 industries are available in Narela.
These units mainly deal in plastic goods, food items, medicines, steel, cardboard, electrical and electronic goods, and office furniture.
DSIIDC has also started upgrading infrastructure at Patparganj and Okhla Phase III industrial areas, the statement said.
