Kundapur: Police nab two for illegal cattle transportation, seize 20 buffaloes

Kundapur, Jul 20: The police on Saturday July 20 arrested two persons and seized 20 buffaloes that were being transported illegally to Kerala.
The arrested are Abdul Rashid (39) and Divakar K Nair (42), both residents of Kasargod.
The police received an anonymous call at around 2.45 am about cattle being transported to Kerala. A team of police immediately swung into action and waylaid a lorry bearing Kerala registration (KL 14 J 0251) near Hattiangadi.
On questioning, the man who was driving the vehicle gave his name as Abdul Rashid and the person on the passenger seat identified himself as Dinakar K Nair. They said that they were transporting the cattle to Kasargod to sell them to butchers.
The police found 20 buffaloes loaded in the lorry. They had been reportedly stolen from in and around Kundapur taluk, it is learnt.
The police seized the vehicle and arrested the duo.
A case has been registered in Kundapur police station.
