Mangalore: Hit and run - Speeding tempo kills woman, husband injured

Mangalore, Jul 17: A middle aged woman was killed and her husband seriously injured when an speeding unidentified tempo hit a two-wheeler at around 10 pm at Padil junction on Tuesday July 16.

The deceased is identified as Savithri J (40) of Kodakal.

Javre Gowda (50), her husband who was riding the bike (KA 19 EG 6492) is critically injured. Javre Gowda suffered a fracture on the left hand and injury on the abdomen. He is admitted in ICU at a private hospital.

The accident took place when they were returning home towards Kodakal after closing their florist shop ‘Shree Durga’ in Kankanady.

The couple have two daughters and a son.

Kankanady rural police have registered a case.

    May her soul rest in eternal peace and hope for a speedy recovery of those injured. Nowadays bikes have become serious killers as these truck , tempo and truck drivers don't care.

    In Mangalore ,Reckless and undeciplined driving by four wheel drivers with mobile conversation is the main reason for this.In 2004 I was on my way to Bajpe with my wife on my bike.The bus ALWYN MOTORS just passed by me at just 6" distance from my right foot with full speed at Maravoor slope turning.We were lucky,nothing happened.There are so many unreported cases like.There is no fear among drivers about traffic police,courts,jail etc . Let Savithri's soul rest in peace.

    The roads in whole mangalore are difficult to travel very easily, but just check the property rates in mangalore like sky high. Looking at the infrastructure the price for the proerty is not worth paying in crores. First priority to construct the proper roads and lanes, then start building the sky scrapers.

    May the deceased's soul RIP and may the injured husband get well soon!! I agree with Lavina on the issue that Mangalore has hardly any infrastructure in place, everything is chaos, but still realty rates are in crores!! There is hardly a single plus point for the exorbitant rates!! There are much better cities which offer realty at competitive rates!! This place is only meant for settling to those who have their families here or who earn their livelihood here!!

    HUSBAND AND WIFE RETURNING AT 10 PM AFTER HARD DAY'S WORK ITSELF SHOWS THEIR TOGETHERNESS AND HARD LIFE.
    FATE IS BLIND AT TIMES TO THE CONSEQUENCES AND FALL OUTS...

    may departed Savithri's soul rest in peace.

    Lot of innocent people lost their valuable lives on road due to some careless drivers.

    There is necessity of putting an end to reckless drivers.
    Govt should look at setting up radars on roads to monitor vehicle speed & punish the drivers severely, who don't respect RTO guidelines.
    Black point system for violating traffic rules should be implemented & upon reaching certain number of black point, driving lisence of the person should be cancelled. If the same person re-applies for lisence, he should go under counselling & should be tested, if he is fit to obtain lisence again.
    Only this kind of awareness can limit/control, increasing accidents.

    poor people lost thier life
    R.T.O officers are not taking any stict actions against such incidents finally sum one has to sacrifies thier life on the road like this ,since many cases like this happend before no action taken god save karnataka
